Ty Sober

Ty Sober, owner of The Gold Corner, has been living and breathing the jewelry business since childhood. Growing up in his family's store, Sober's Jewelry, he began learning the trade at an early age—sizing watch bands, replacing watch batteries, and engraving hundreds of jean tags while still in middle school.
After graduating from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in California as a Graduate Gemologist in 1984 and Jewelry Manufacturing Arts in 1985, Ty spent the next decade refining his skills with two jewelry stores. During that time, he also had the unique opportunity to create jewelry props for several Hollywood films, including Hook, The Shadow, and Days of Thunder.
In 1994, Ty returned to Wellington and opened The Gold Corner, just down the street from his parents' store. The close proximity kept things friendly—and just a little competitive. Over the years, he has built a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, specializing in custom jewelry design and creating one-of-a-kind pieces for his customers. He also takes pride in performing all jewelry repairs in-house using the latest technology. In fact, he was one of the first jewelers in Kansas to adopt laser welding technology, introducing a laser welder to his shop in 2000.
When he's not at the store—which isn't often—you'll likely find Ty traveling and scuba diving with his wife, spending time with his Labrador retrievers, or enjoying a ride on his motorcycle.

Justine

Hi, I’m Justine!
While I may be new to The Gold Corner, I’m no stranger to the jewelry industry. I’ve spent more than a decade buying and selling jewelry, and I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the stories behind each piece. One of my favorite parts of the job is hearing how a treasured item became a family heirloom and helping customers preserve those memories for future generations.
At The Gold Corner, I manage our social media and photography, helping showcase the beautiful jewelry and unique stories that make our business special.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me walking my dogs around my small hometown. Having lived on both the East and West Coasts, I’m thrilled to be back in the Midwest, where I enjoy the sense of community and slower pace of life.
I look forward to connecting with you and helping share the stories behind the pieces you treasure most!

Hi I’m Amanda!
I’ve been a part of The Gold Corner family for 14 years now. If it involves restringing, paperwork, engraving or keeping the plants alive, I’ve probably got my hands in it!
I love the little details- whether it’s bringing a favorite piece of jewelry back to life or making sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. There’s something special about helping pieces tell their story.
When I’m not at work, you can usually find me spending time with my granddaughter, trying my luck at bingo, or thrifting in search of hidden treasures. I guess you could say I have a soft spot for things with a little history and a lot of charm, both in and out of the jewelry case!
